As a small but rapidly growing firm, we're looking for an ambitious Business Development Executive to drive our sales efforts and expansion.
The Opportunity We're seeking a driven and experienced Business Development Executive to join our team and spearhead our growth initiatives.
This is a sales-focused role that requires a proactive approach to new business development, with a primary focus on property insurance markets.
Key Responsibilities: Lead our new business acquisition efforts through proactive sales strategies, including cold outreach and networking Develop and execute targeted campaigns to acquire new commercial/property clients, focusing on businesses with £500k to £15m turnover Conduct cold calls, email outreach, and attend industry events to generate leads and build a robust sales pipeline Provide expert insurance advice across a range of commercial products, with a strong emphasis on commercial and property insurance Convert high-quality leads generated through our corporate partnerships and professional network Nurture and grow relationships with existing clients to maximize retention and cross-selling opportunities Collaborate with our broking team to design bespoke insurance solutions for clients Contribute to the overall growth strategy of Octo Insurance Brokers   Required Qualifications and Experience: Proven track record in commercial insurance sales or business development Demonstrated success in cold outreach and new client acquisition In-depth knowledge of the SME insurance market, particularly in commercial and property insurance Experience in building and maintaining client relationships in a B2B environment Cert CII qualification (minimum), with progress towards Dip CII or ACII preferred Desired Skills and Attributes: Strong commercial acumen and ability to understand clients' business needs Excellent communication and negotiation skills Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and comfort with cold outreach Resilience and ability to thrive in a target-driven sales environment Adaptability and willingness to excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment Passion for continuous learning and professional development Benefits and Perks Competitive base salary of £40,000 - £60,000, depending on experience Lucrative commission structure: 30% of all new business income Hybrid working model: Split your time between our Glasgow office, client visits, and home-based work 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Professional development support, including funding for industry qualifications Regular team events and a collaborative, supportive work culture Career Growth As a key player in our growth strategy, you'll have unparalleled opportunities to shape your career path and take on increasing responsibilities as we expand.
