Job summary Applications are invited for a dentist to join our Special Care Dentistry team.
SCD is one of the specialised services provided by the integrated Dental Hospital and Community Dental Services within the Dental Division of in the Birmingham and Black Country area, you will be working as part of a consultant led team which includes Specialists, Senior Dental Officers and DCPs.
There will be an opportunity to develop clinical competencies in all aspects of SCD including basic level IV sedation.
This may include DES (Dentist with Extended Skills) status once the relevant requirements are released by the Royal Colleges.
This is a permanent role - WTE - 2 days per week Main duties of the job This interestingand varied role includesproviding dental care foradults with disabilities, medicaland mental health problemsas wellas severe dental phobia.
Italso includes provision of domiciliary careand responsibility for supervising dental students for whichanadditionalallowance will be paid.You will needagoodawareness of the SCD specialtyand some basic experience of working with theabove patient groups.
You will need experiencein oral surgeryideallyattained throughahospital based oral surgery post ofat least 6 months.
You willalso need to demonstrate theability to workasateam playerand on your own initiative.
