Job summary Are you looking to develop your career in large acute teaching hospital in critical care and complex surgery where there is a focus on development, support, staff health and well-being?
We could have the post for you.We have an opportunity for a caring and highly motivated Dietitian who has experience of working in teams to work alongside a critical team of Band 7 Dietitians.
The team is led by one of the Band 8a clinical leads in the department.
You will be expected to provide a service to our highly specialised, complex patients with upper/lower gastroenterology, intestinal failure, hepato-bilo-pancreatic surgery, liver transplant and complex surgery.The hospital has one of the largest single site critical care units in the United Kingdom with 100 beds across four critical care units specialising in cardiac surgery including heart and lung transplantation, ECMO, VADS, Neurology/ Neurosciences, Major Trauma, Complex surgery.
It is also the home of the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine for military personnel injured in conflict zones.Interview expected on 27th January 2025.
For further information, including arranging a time to visit the service on the day of the interview or an informal chat, contact 0121 371 3485 or email: Main duties of the job The roles and responsibilities include undertaking nutrition assessment, developing enteral or oral nutrition feeding plans, managing and monitoring nutrition related issues such as enteral feeding intolerances.You should have dietetic experience within complex surgery.
Also experience, skills and knowledge in enteral feeding, home tube feeding, nutritional support, education, training, clinical supervision, teaching and audit.You will be involved in personal and staff development through reflective practice, competency assessment, mentoring and student training.The post is 100% committed to CPD; with opportunities to be involved in audit and presenting at conferences nationally.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential * Evidence of relevant GCSE, NVQ, GNVQ, AS and A-Levels * BSc or Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics or equivalent qualification * Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as Dietitian Experience Essential * Evidence of relevant continued professional development in following areas: Clinical: - Accredited specialist training courses - Attendance at specialist group meetings of BDA - Attendance at relevant multi-disciplinary courses/conferences Teaching: - Presentation skills - Clinical supervisory skills training for student training Organisational: - computer skills - time management - Relevant post registration experience to clinical area: - In depth for nutritional assessment /nutritional screening tools - All types of nutritional support - Up to date with clinical developments, with evidence of contributions to clinical meetings /journal clubs - Working knowledge of computer programmes word processing, spreadsheets, power point, dietary analysis, data collection and patient information programmes - Evidence of clinical audit and/or research - Evidence of multi-disciplinary team work
