Job summary We are looking for 2 dynamic and motivated chemotherapy trained nurses to join us.An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 6 Registered Nurse's.
One to join the team on the Haematology & Oncology Day Unit at Heartlands Hospital and one on the Haematology & Oncology Day Unit at Solihull.
You need to be competent in cannulation and phlebotomy and administering chemotherapy.The units are nurse led unit's and the post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and toxicity assessment pre administration of chemotherapy and provide a specialist Oncology and Haematology nursing service to patients, families, carers and health professionals.Provide specialist education and training which is research based, to staff caring for patients.Undertaking quality improvement initiatives such as audits, research and evidenced based practice and service development projects.In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse or Deputy Charge Nurse they will take charge of the clinical area to ensure effective operation of the department.We aim to provide an individualised and supportive environment for patients.
Supporting junior team helping them develop their skills to reach their full potential.We actively support professional development through provision of places on national study days and conferences where appropriateThe unit at Heartlands Hospital is open Monday-Friday Main duties of the job To assist the unit nurse manager provide clinical and managerial leadership for staff and the safe delivery of the SACT service, ensuring systems and processes are up to date ( Health Roster, Appraisals, sick reviews, Datix)Contribute to the development of clinical practice in a positive manner in order to maintain a consistent, motivated day treatment focus.The applicant should be experienced in the administration of SACT, be able to communicate sensitively & effectively with patients, their carers and all members of the MDT and be an excellent team player.Provide leadership and supervision, managerial direction and support to junior colleagues within the day unit team in the delivery of service, proactively anticipating and planning for trends whilst maintaining the cohesive team structure and effective use of resources.

Job description Job responsibilities *Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person Specification Qualifications Essential *Registered General Nurse *First Level degree in related subject or undertaking a degree pathway.
*Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable *Post basic qualification in cancer, haematology or oncology.
*Advanced communication skills training, or prepared to work towards.
*Recognised teaching qualification or prepared to work towards.
*Evidence of Masters level learning Experience Essential *Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 or above in cancer nursing.
*Minimum 3 years post registration nursing experience with 18 months of that being experience working in an outpatient setting delivering chemotherapy/supportive products *Experience of multi-professional working *Good communication skills *Ability to support and influence change.
Desirable *Experience of audit and research.
*Leadership and management experience *Experience of teaching.
Additional Criteria Essential *Diplomatic, calm and objective.
*Assertive, confident, yet approachable.
