Then an opportunity to join the Centre for Clinical Haematology (CCH) may just be for you.CCH is a busy and fast paced unit that delivers treatment and support to adults, teenagers and young adults with a wide range of haematology conditions.
We administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and supporting therapies.
We also oversee an ambulatory Stem Cell Transplantation and chemotherapy programme, as well as a busy outpatient clinic.You will be expected to work flexibly with shifts 8am-7pm.If you have SACT, cannulation, phlebotomy, or central lines skills it will be an advantage, but if not, then you should have enthusiasm and dexterity to develop these skills and training/support will be given.
You will be supported in this post by the Unit Manager and team, Matron for Haematology and the SACT trainers.Interviews will be face to faceFixed Term -12 month maternity cover Main duties of the job Main duties include are to manage and provide care for patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer therapies and supportive treatments.
The post holder will be someone who displays excellent communication skills and will be responsible for assessing patients for chemotherapy to ensure their physical condition and blood parameters are acceptable in order to receive prescribed treatment.
Administration and disposal of intravenous chemotherapy in line with Trust and National guidance.
Work closely and communicate effectively with all members of the MDT.
Undertake procedures related to Stem Cell Transplantation.
Cannulation, phlebotomy or central line skills are desirable but not necessary as you will be supported to develop these skills.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential * Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register * Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC Experience Essential * Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting * Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/competence * Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others * Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct * Understanding of preceptorship and work based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge * Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context * Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity * Awareness of health and safety issues
