Job summary An opportunity has arisen to employ an enthusiastic and motivated individual within the Human Resources (HR) Department to work with the HR team who support Learning Disabilities Division and Dental Services Division.Learning Disabilities Division has specialist teams who provide healthcare for adults with learning disabilities living in the community in their own home, with their family or residential homes and have additional complex needs.
People aged 19 and over with a learning disability can access specialist support to help with complex needs such as epilepsy, challenging behaviour, forensic needs and mental health conditions.
The division also provides short breaks and day services for people needing continuing health care in a specialised environment and residential care is available for people with end-of-life and complex health needs.
There are currently 265 staff in the Division.Dental Services Division encapsulates community and acute dentistry, the latter being conducted from Birmingham Dental Hospital, Edgbaston, which is home to the University of Birmingham's School of Dentistry, and is one of only 10 dental hospitals in England.
Service provision, education and research form key components, with consultant led dental specialties providing treatment for around 115,000 attendances each year, together with undergraduate and postgraduate training.
Dental Community Services covers a broad geographical area with 16 sites in Birmingham and the Black Country.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will provide day to day Human Resources support to a range of managers and staff.
The successful candidate must have a strong customer service based approach, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good organisational skills and the ability to advise on all aspects of employee relations.In addition, the successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and in the production of activity based reports.
Other activities include the provision of advice including Agenda for Change terms and conditions, general employment law and Human Resource best practice.
The successful candidate will provide support and advice to managers dealing with long and short term sickness absence as per Trust Policy and may be required to undertake investigations and support transformational programmes.It will be expected the successful candidate will have knowledge of HR and Trust policies and management procedures, statutory legislation and upcoming changes in law in order to undertake their role effectively.
In addition, the successful candidate should possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Being able to prioritise workloads and work under pressure is essential.
