Job summary Job SummaryWe are seeking enthusiastic and experienced phlebotomists to join our team at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Washwood Heath Community Diagnostic Centre (WWHCDC), part of UHB NHS Foundation Trust.This skilled role requires the ability to work under pressure, proficiency with keyboards, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must have at least 12 months of recent phlebotomy experience in an acute hospital setting and will complete local training and competency assessments upon appointment.You must work well in a team without direct supervision, maintain confidentiality, and handle patients with sensitivity.
Senior phlebotomists will assist in training, assessing, and supervising junior staff.The role is based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital with rotational shifts at WWHCDC and potential cross-site cover for training or service needs.Working HoursCore hours: 07:30--20:00, Monday to Friday, with weekend/bank holiday shifts:*Weekend Wards: 07:00--10:30*Weekend WWHCDC: 08:30--20:00Part-time (minimum 30 hours) or full-time applications welcome.Application QuestionsAnswer these in the 'Supporting Information' section (150 words per question):1.Provide an example of how you contributed to effective patient care.

Job description Job responsibilities *Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person Specification Qualifications Essential Evidence of completion of a Health-Related Education and Development programme/ Care Certificate Desirable *GCSE or equivalent to Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English Experience Essential *Recent minimum 12 months experience working in an acute hospital settings *Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment *Experience of carrying out assigned duties after training and using initiative.
*Competent in a range of clinical skills and practices relevant to the scope of practice required.
*Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity *Awareness of Health and Safety issues *Has knowledge in relation to the parameters and scope of practice in which the post holder should work and when to seek advice and support of others?
*Willingness to take on new skills and develop scope of practice.
