Associate Director of Quality GovernanceFollowing the retirement of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Associate Director of Quality Assurance at Whittington Health NHS Trust.
The Associate Director of Quality Assurance is band 8C and a full-time role based at the Whittington Hospital site.
The post holder is responsible for the delivery and leadership of integrated governance, quality and patient experience across the Trust.
We are inviting expressions of interest from candidates with strong leadership and a knowledge of integrated governance and quality, including patient safety, clinical effectiveness, regulatory and compliance systems, maintaining effective communication with regulators, including the CQC and quality improvement.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of improving patient safety, integrated governance systems and an understanding of the CQC and other regulatory systems.
The post holder will be expected to provide assurance that appropriate systems, processes and relationships are in place to ensure high quality and are effective and maintained.
The post holder will be line managed by the Deputy Chief Nurse.
Main duties of the jobDevelop appropriate systems, processes and relationships to ensure high quality, safe and effective services are operational and effective.Lead on the strategic development of integrated governance and quality improvement, while offering a high level of professional and operational support across the Trust.Take the organisational lead in developing, constantly reviewing and implementing the Trust's risk management strategy including incident reporting, serious incident reporting, duty of candor and compliance.Deliver the Trust's quality improvement strategy in conjunction with the clinical lead for quality improvement.About usWhittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone.

Job responsibilitiesProvide strong visible quality governance leadership in partnership with the executive and ICSU leadership teams.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders including the Care Quality Commission, commissioners and colleagues across the health and social care economy.Communicate using a varied range of techniques and methods to effectively work with and influence a range of stakeholders.Ensure that the principles of robust integrated governance are embedded and operational within all corporate departments and ICSUs.Liaise closely with executive and ICSU leadership teams in the implementation of quality governance, patient safety and risk management systems.Responsible for the management of the budgets within the overall quality governance team.Directly line-manage the leads for patient experience, patient safety, quality improvement and clinical effectiveness.Provide high quality leadership and role modelling to the quality governance team.Person SpecificationContractual requirementFlexible approach to working including travel to other Whittington Health ICO sites.KnowledgeExpert-level knowledge of the critical factors in delivering improvements in governance standards relevant to an Integrated Care Organisation (ICO).Knowledge and experience of improving patient safety is essential.Highly developed oral, written, presentation and leadership skills.Expert knowledge of integrated governance systems and their management.In-depth understanding of CQC processes and inspections.Knowledge of clinical quality and safety strategies and implementation.QualificationsEducated to Master's Level or equivalent level of experience in a Quality Governance or Risk management NHS role.Extensive knowledge of key portfolio areas including Integrated Governance systems and patient safety.Project management Qualification.Full current professional registration.SkillsEvidence of active continued professional development to support delivery of a senior leadership role.Proven ability to obtain and consistently achieve results and targets.Experience of managing budgets effectively.Excellent report writing and data analysis skills.Proven ability to lead improvement and audit activity through staff participation.Ability to monitor and evaluate progress against targets.Proven ability in managing relationships with a range of different stakeholders internally and externally.Highly developed problem-solving skills.ExperiencePrevious experience of working in a collective decision-making group.Experience of working in partnership with senior clinical, executive and managerial colleagues.Relevant experience of working effectively across organisational and professional boundaries.Experience of developing and implementing systems to improve clinical and corporate performance.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
