We are seeking an environmental attorney to be based in our London office to support Amazon Web Services (AWS).
AWS provides cutting edge cloud computing services and IT infrastructure to public and private clients around the globe, including on-demand compute capacity, data storage, content delivery, database services, browsers, and more.
The successful candidate will join the AWS Legal Regulatory Risk Management & Compliance team focusing on environmental compliance of AWS's facilities and operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
You will be part of a team that counsels Amazon's data center business on a broad range of environmental, regulatory, procurement, sustainability, and compliance matters.
Principal duties include providing day-to-day advice on compliance issues, monitoring upcoming environmental regulatory changes and advising the business on advocacy strategies, advising on new region expansion and site development pathways for new facilities, working cross-functionally with other data center teams to ensure operational compliance, negotiating commercial transactions with vendors, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Some international travel will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS At least two years of post-qualification legal experience Excellent academic qualifications Legal experience in environmental compliance matters, with at least two years at a law firm.
High degree of independence, initiative, decisiveness and strategic thinking, as well as a desire to be challenged Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be a partner to business stakeholders PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous data center compliance experience A mix of law firm and in-house experience Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines Demonstrated experience writing successfully for a diverse range of audiences Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
