* You can read more about the different benefits offered to colleagues working for Nottingham City Council About the RoleThe Deputyship Service is a front line service which manages the property and financial affairs of citizens who have been assessed to lack mental capacity with their finances.
The Local Authority step in to act as a last resort where there is no-one else suitable, able or willing to act for that vulnerable adult.
This case work role is varied and interesting and involves managing the affairs of a cohort of citizens.
It will include the following key activities: Managing citizens finances within assured policies and processes Maximising income, ensuring benefits are correct and resolving issues that arise.
Ensuring care fees and other liabilities are correct and paid on time Creating and updating spending plans and ensuring that the citizen receives a personal spending allowance for their day-to-day needs.
Developing positive relationships with the citizens and care and support providers, to understand their needs and make decisions in their best interests.
Making decisions in relation to requests for funds, goods and services.
Pro-actively working with citizens and their circle of care to utilise their funds to achieve outcomes.
Annual client visits About YouThe ideal candidate will have: Strong organisation skills, ability to prioritise, and work on your own initiative, including the ability to make decisions and problem solve; Knowledge of welfare benefits relevant to the client group and the ability to learn and develop your technical knowledge in this area Previous experience of working with financial matters connected to individual citizens Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work positively with clients and care/support providers, and deliver great customer service to a diverse range of people.
You will receive on the job training and support to carry out this role.
