Job Summary The Altera/Allscripts EPR Configuration Analyst will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing the Altera (formerly Allscripts) EPR system to support clinical workflows, patient management, and healthcare operations.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience with the Altera/Allscripts platform, a strong understanding of clinical systems, and the ability to translate healthcare requirements into effective EPR configurations.
You will collaborate with clinical teams, IT departments, and other stakeholders to ensure the EPR system meets the needs of healthcare providers and complies with NHS standards.
Key Responsibilities Configure and maintain the Altera/Allscripts EPR system, ensuring it supports clinical workflows, operational processes, and patient care pathways.
Work closely with clinical teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into detailed configuration specifications within the EPR system.
Ensure that all EPR configurations are aligned with NHS guidelines, including data protection, clinical safety, and healthcare IT best practices.
Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and enhancements to ensure the EPR system operates optimally and remains compliant with regulatory changes.
Troubleshoot and resolve configuration-related issues, collaborating with technical teams and vendors to ensure timely resolution.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, workflows, and user guides to support end-users and future system enhancements.
Provide ongoing training and support to clinical and administrative staff to ensure effective use of the Altera/Allscripts EPR system.
Participate in the design, testing, and implementation of new EPR modules, features, or system upgrades.
Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure the accuracy, security, and performance of the EPR configuration.
Collaborate with third-party vendors and support teams to manage system integrations, including interfaces with other clinical and operational systems (e.g., PAS, RIS, LIS).
Stay current with developments in the Altera/Allscripts EPR platform and NHS healthcare IT policies, recommending improvements and ensuring best practices are followed.
Required Skills & Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Altera/Allscripts EPR systems in a healthcare or NHS setting.
Deep understanding of clinical workflows, patient management, and NHS operational processes.
Proven experience with system configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of EPR systems, specifically within the Altera/Allscripts environment.
Familiarity with NHS Digital standards, including data governance, clinical safety, and information security regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to resolving technical issues in a clinical environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clinical teams, IT staff, and management.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Experience with integration and interfacing technologies such as HL7, FHIR, or middleware used within NHS environments.
Familiarity with NHS electronic healthcare systems, such as PAS (Patient Administration System), RIS (Radiology Information System), or LIS (Laboratory Information System).
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working with NHS Trusts or healthcare organizations in an EPR configuration role.
Knowledge of scripting or technical skills related to EPR customization, reporting, or data extraction.
Experience with other healthcare systems and technologies commonly integrated with Altera/Allscripts EPR, such as PACS, pharmacy systems, or health information exchanges (HIE).
Certifications in Altera/Allscripts EPR or related healthcare IT systems.
