To deliver high-quality, engaging Functional Skills maths programmes from entry level through to level 2, with the primary objective of supporting learners in developing their maths knowledge and skills by providing comprehensive teaching, learning, guidance, and support, helping learners achieve their learning goals and improve their numeracy ability.
Key Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners.
Assess learners' maths abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly.
Develop and deliver consistently engaging and interactive sessions, utilising a variety of teaching techniques and materials to enhance learners' understanding and engagement with the subject/topic.
Provide individualised support to learners, addressing their specific learning needs and challenges through one-on-one meetings and additional learning resources.
Rigorously monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance.
Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement.
Collaborate with other team members to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in maths.
Communicate regularly with learners, employers, and relevant stakeholders to provide updates on progress, address concerns, and foster effective partnerships in support of learner success.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in maths education, curriculum changes, and teaching methodologies, continuously updating own knowledge and skills.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications and specific training Minimum of A-level or equivalent maths qualification (essential) Qualified teacher e.g.
: Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, or a commitment to obtain.
(essential) Minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 in English and maths (essential) Full, clean driving licence (essential) Level 5 Numeracy Specialist qualification (desirable) Level 2 IT user qualification (desirable) Experience Proven experience in teaching or tutoring mathematics, preferably at GCSE and/or Functional Skills level.
(essential) Experience working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities.
(essential) Experience of developing stimulating and engaging maths programmes.
(essential) Experience of using data analysis to inform teaching and improve learner outcomes.
(desirable) Knowledge Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills maths curriculum and assessment requirements.
(essential) Excellent understanding of teaching methodologies and strategies for supporting diverse learners (essential) Familiarity with assessment practices and methods for tracking learner progress.
(essential) Knowledge of Safeguarding, GDPR and Equality and Diversity in education.
(essential) Knowledge of the GCSE maths curriculum.
(desirable) Awareness of current educational policies and initiatives impacting maths education.
(desirable) Skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with learners and create a positive learning environment.
(essential) Patient, adaptable, and able to differentiate teaching and learning to meet individual learner needs.
(essential) Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver sessions effectively.
(essential) Proficient in using technology and resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
