As a key member of the Youth Engagement Team working at Basingstoke this post will work alongside the Community Manager to deliver evidenced-based and youth-focused programmes to residents and the wider Basingstoke Community.Main Duties & Responsibilities:Develop, promote and deliver engaging and relevant social activities and programmes on a daily basis to young peopleSupport, mentor, coach and 'walk alongside' individuals in their pursuit of independence and community cohesionUndertake risk assessments and support planning interviews with new residentsDevelop community minded support and activities that involve the wider communityEngage third parties to deliver support and activities to young peopleTo act as an advocate for young people and to engage partner agencies and services appropriate to the young people's needsActively encourage job search, training, and volunteering opportunities with young people who are not in education, employment, or trainingFacilitate the booking and delivery of community-based programmesAssist with the interviewing and selection of those applying for accommodationUndertake risk assessments and support planning with young peopleA willingness to work to a rota system including evenings, weekends and bank holidaysQualifications and Experience:Demonstrable experience of programme delivery in youth, adult or community-based serviceAn ability and willingness to relate positively to young people, visitors and staffAn outgoing and friendly personality, able to communicate well and engage a wide range of peopleAbility to react positively and effectively when faced with unwanted high-risk behaviours from young people, whether targeted towards themselves, staff, visitors or other young peopleGood level of IT proficiencyKnowledge of housing support services and processesAn understanding of safeguarding principles and proceduresAn understanding of the issues facing young peopleAn understanding of equality and diversity mattersSuccessful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via Disclosure and Barring Service.We are an equal opportunities charity with commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace.
