Job Description Job Title: Community Coordinator – Older Residents (Bromley) Project: Bromley Well-being Project Organisation: Play Place Location: Based across three Bromley Community Hubs: Queen Adelaide Community Hub: Queen Adelaide Road, Penge, SE20 7EA Mountfield Community Hub: 17 Sandway Close, Orpington, BR5 3TU Turpington Lane Community Hub: Turpington Lane, Bromley, BR2 8JX Hours: 21 hours per week (52 weeks) Annual Leave: 4 weeks plus Bank Holidays Salary: £15,288 to £16,380 Reports to: Bromley Director The Role We are looking for a Community Coordinator to lead the Bromley Well-being Project, supporting older residents at three local community hubs.
This is a hands-on role, requiring face-to-face interaction with residents, with occasional evening and weekend work.
Your focus will be to organise and deliver themed social activities that improve the well-being of older residents, many of whom are vulnerable.
These activities will include regular group sessions, seasonal events, and additional initiatives to support the community.
Person Specification Skills and Experience: Previous experience in community-focused roles, ideally with older adults.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Knowledge of safeguarding, volunteer management, and community engagement.
Ability to plan and adapt activities to meet diverse needs.
Proficient in using email, digital tools, and basic administration.
Personal Qualities: Friendly, approachable, and inclusive.
Motivated and passionate about improving well-being and reducing loneliness.
Flexible and able to work occasional evenings or weekends.
Key Responsibilities Programme Delivery Plan and deliver 30 themed sessions each year at each hub, along with three seasonal "community day" events, totalling 99 sessions annually.
Work with residents to design activities that are run in 8–10 week cycles.
Examples include bingo, quizzes, crochet, chair yoga, dance, and music.
Ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment by providing light meals at each session.
Community Engagement and Training Work closely with residents, Clarion staff, and volunteers to build outreach and support networks.
Recruit and supervise volunteers, ensuring they are supported and DBS-checked where required.
Deliver a 6-week AQA-accredited training programme, covering topics such as community planning, safeguarding, confidentiality, and first aid.
Well-being Bank Initiative Develop and manage a "well-being bank" to provide essential items like blankets, slow cookers, heaters, and winter clothing.
Items will be sourced through purchases and local donations.
Additional Duties Site Management and Compliance Complete mandatory e-learning for all hubs, covering Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, and boiler servicing, and ensure certificates are up to date.
Marketing and Communication Collaborate with the Play Place Marketing Team to promote hub activities through leaflets, social media, and outreach.
Respond to emails and enquiries promptly as part of daily tasks.
Team Collaboration Attend regular team meetings to contribute to the project's smooth running and share ideas.
