Job summary Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality.
They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate.
Main duties of the job As a Young Persons Worker, you'll be supporting a caseload of young people who are experiencing difficulties with substance misuse.
You'll work with them to access their needs, develop care plans, delivery a variety of treatments and/or refer them to other specialist support when needed.
You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take.

We give people support in a way that's right for them either face to face in their local service, community or online.

We use our expertise to improve the help available and raise awareness around drugs, alcohol and mental health so that more people can get support.

We provide support to people who have been affected by drugs and alcohol.
We work with people on their own goals, whether that's staying safe and healthy, making a small change or stopping an unwanted habit.
We work with both adults and Young People.
Our approach is sensitive and respectful, listening to people's stories and learning from them.
Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2026.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or willing to achieve this within 12 months Evidence of training in Child Protection and Safeguarding This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check Experience Essential To be able to do this job successfully, you will have: a successful track record of therapeutic working with young people in groups and 1:1 settings demonstrable experience of supporting young people in relation to mental health or substance misuse knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for clients knowledge and understanding of issues affecting young people such as substance misuse, mental and physical health and emotional wellbeing thorough and up to date knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental wellbeing and self harming behaviours a proven ability to carry out comprehensive assessments, assess risk, devise care plans and deliver evidence based interventions a proven track record of working as an individual and as part of a team sharing skills, experience and knowledge with others able to visit other locations from time to time in order to deliver the services required Desirable A full job description will be provided upon request.
