Works Engineer

My client, a Bingley-based Manufacturer is looking for a Works Engineer who is competent at both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
They are looking for someone with factory & machine maintenance/repair/ installation experience in a versatile manufacturing environment.
Suitable applicants are likely to be mechanically led with electrical training or strong experience and able to be trained further electrically.
A good problem solver, also someone able to proactively bear down and resolve issues well and promptly or to understand and bring in others when outside resources/expertise is required.
Working in a team of 2, standard hours are 8am to 4.30pm (42.5 hours a week), plus on call alternate weekends, which brings the average week to 50.5 hours and the salary bracket to £41.622 - £44,379 (plus overtime).
MAIN DUTIES Always Work safely, e.g.
isolating machinery, erecting guards etc.
Make personnel aware of any work starting or any other issues via shift supervisors and or others as necessary.
Respond quickly to production machine issues as they arise.
Ensure factory/machines/site remain safe to use or be around.
Check and maintain machine safety devices, fire/smoke alarms and exits etc.
at fixed intervals.
Isolate any machinery/areas in an unsafe condition.
Monitor/rectify/report machine or equipment access issues, e.g.
guarding, steps, sensors.
Plan, undertake and record maintenance to minimise output disruption.
Plan any preventative maintenance with the works manager and supervisors minimise loss in production time.
Control/monitor the work of third parties/visitors, including experience and competence, to maintain personnel/visitor safety.
Plan and ensure relevant H&S requirements and quality (BRC) checks are undertaken on time.
Keep an organised, well laid-out and tidy workshop, equipment.
Always wear the correct PPE for the job and use equipment in a safe manner (e.g.
air).
BRC - Come to work in a clean and tidy manner (clothing laundered, hair protection etc.)
to minimise contamination risk to our products.
Skills Mechanically Qualified - NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical engineering Experience of: * Mechanical engineer working with machine tools * Gearboxes and drives * General engineering * Pneumatic controls * Fire Alarm systems/Testing Electrically qualified (ideally) - 18th Edition General experience (including controllers/panels etc.)
of: * Single and three phase motors * Inverters and AC drives * DC Drives * Heater and cooling controls * PAT Testing Maintaining of other areas of the factory - planned maintenance and undertaking other functions to facilitate the smooth running of the factory.
Also, at times organising/helping to organise and co-ordinating/managing work by external contractors.
