Job Brief Weredog is seeking a highly capable and problem-solving-focused WordPress Backend Developer to take over the development and maintenance of our custom-built WordPress backend system.
This role is integral to our operations, as our backend manages the entire lifecycle of our products, from custom-made to pre-made items, handling everything from production instructions to quality control logging.
As the sole developer in this area, you'll be responsible for ensuring that our system runs smoothly, fixing any issues, and building new features as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify problems and develop efficient solutions while working independently, with guidance and oversight from our Operations Manager.
Responsibilities Maintain and enhance our existing custom-built WordPress backend plugin using PHP.
Ensure the smooth operation of the system, identifying and solving any issues related to product lifecycle management, production, and quality control.
Collaborate with production and quality control teams to understand their needs and implement system updates or new features that streamline their processes.
Develop new functionality as our product lines expand, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Ensure seamless integration with WooCommerce and other WordPress components.
Manage codebase and ensure it's well-documented for future updates or changes.
Compensation We are offering a starting wage of £15 per hour.
Requirements Strong proficiency in PHP and WordPress plugin development.
Experience with WooCommerce and understanding of e-commerce processes.
Ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.
Experience working with databases (MySQL) and debugging complex systems.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a product-driven or manufacturing environment.
Additional skills in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, or other web technologies are a plus.
Previous experience working in small teams or independently.
