Job Title: Criminal Justice Outreach Worker Salary: £22,538 - £24,968 Full time - 37hrs per week Summary Practitioners (Criminal Justice Outreach Workers) provide advice, assessment, brief and structured interventions, group programmes and training courses.
Practitioners (Criminal Justice Outreach Workers) are expected to work not only from ORB offices but also in Court, Probation, Police Custody and other outreach settings as required by the service specification.
Duties and Responsibilities Working in a way that recognises and values diversity and with an understanding of the functional model of substance misuse, the model of change, CBT and a commitment to Recovery, the practitioner will: a) Provide advice, screening, brief and comprehensive assessments with people who are working with probation, attending court or have recently been released from prison to encourage engagement in services.
b) To attend Court regularly (in High Wycombe) and assess suitability of community sentence treatment requirements (ATR/DRR).
c) To work collaboratively with partners such as police, courts, probation, community support, health, well-being, education, employment, training, volunteering, housing and social support enabling a full integrated service to be offered.
d) To be the point of contact for Thames Valley Police and will complete custody visits where needed to complete initial assessment and engagement (Aylesbury & Maidenhead).
e) Provide brief and longer term structured interventions.
f) Develop a care plan and ensure it is implemented and reviewed with the client(s) and monitor outcomes.
g) Provide case management and ensure integrated pathways.
h) Provide advice and structured support for affected others.
i) Provide group programmes and support groups.
j) Maintain written records and data.
k) Liaise with agencies, professionals and groups as necessary.
l) Participate in service promotion and information events.
m) Work effectively and positively as a team member.
n) Allocate and oversee the work of peer mentors and volunteers as required.
o) Support the development of family intervention within the wider team, through case discussion and supervision.
p) Actively promote Aquarius through statutory and voluntary organisations and establish and maintain effective operational working relationships.
q) Ensure that all safeguarding issues, including child protection and protection of vulnerable adults, are dealt with in accordance to Aquarius policies and procedures, and local and national statutory requirements.
General a) Keep accurate records and the necessary data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
b) To undertake training as required by the organisation.
c) To participate in supervision as required by the organisation.
d) Take responsibility for personal development and participate in PPD/appraisal process.
e) To attend meetings as required by the organisation.
f) To work within Aquarius policies and procedures.
g) To undertake such other duties as required by the organisation.
h) To notify the manager of any untoward occurrences which may affect the service, both at a professional and administrative level.
i) To provide written records and reports as required by the organisation.
j) To be flexible with regard to working patterns to meet the requirements of the service.
k) To be willing to travel to locations as required.
l) To understand and work with the ethos, aims and objectives of Aquarius.
Terms and Conditions There is a demand to provide a flexible service to meet client need and therefore there will be an expectation to work evenings and weekends as required by the service.
The exact pattern of work will be determined by service need and may be subject to change.
Holiday entitlement is 32 days, plus 8 Bank Holidays This is a permanent post subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.
This is a full time post at 37 hours per week.
The salary for this post is £22,538 - £24,968 per annum.
The successful candidate will normally be appointed at the entry point of the scale.
A pension scheme is available.
