Our modern headquarters, where we are championing agile working are located at Junction 41 of the M4 alongside Baglan railway station.
Whilst this is the official base for this role, the successful candidate will engage with staff face to face at our hospital sites, as well as working part of the week from home.
Previous experience and a knowledge of the work of the NHS would be an advantage, as would experience of and/or a qualification in translation, although this is not essential.
Main duties of the job We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual who thrives working on multiple projects simultaneously.
This post will offer the successful candidate variety in their working day with tasks which include, but are not limited to co-ordination of the workflow of the translation unit, face to face engagement and promotional activities with staff across the Health Board, liaising with colleagues in multiple departments to ensure project timelines are kept.

This post will also include supporting the work of the translation team by proofreading and translating documents.
Because of this, applicants should be confident in their use of Welsh to a high standard.
We use Microsoft 365 across the organisation, and you should be able to evidence a strong grasp of the features of its key components, namely Excel, Outlook and Word.

Job description Job responsibilities 1.
Assisting the Welsh Language Translators in the provision of a high quality professional translation service, from English to Welsh and from Welsh to English.
Often working to tight timescales, this will require a fluent, extensive knowledge of both languages.
The documents which would require translation may contain sensitive and/or complex information, including (but not be limited to): The Health Board Annual Report Policy and Procedure Documents Letters ( complaints or letters from Assembly Members) Leaflets and posters Patient or personal identifiable information (PII) 2.
Proof-reading documents prior to translation, ensuring that they are grammatically correct.
This may entail communicating with the author of the document in order to gain a greater understanding of the subject or content.

To deal with and respond to all day-to-day enquiries and translation requests received by the Department.
This will involve communication and liaison with staff from all service groups, departments, disciplines and grades across the Health Board 4.
Recording, processing and coordinating all translation requests as they are received, and monitoring progress to ensure that they are managed effectively within agreed timescales.
This will involve maintaining a database of all translation work carried out, and producing and maintaining regular analytical reports for the Welsh Language Officer, escalating any concerns in a timely fashion.

Developing and maintaining electronic and/or paper-based information systems using physical and software based solutions as required, which ensure that all information and files are held safely and securely, and are easily accessible when required.

Assisting the Welsh Language Office in the design and implementation of a programme of work to raise the profile and awareness, and to promote the use of the Welsh language across the Health Board.

Proactively identify additional activities or changes to working practices in accordance with the role, which would increase postholder efficiency and the efficiency of the team; offer suggestions for improvement and implement these in agreement with the Welsh Language Officer.

Contribute to team meetings offering suggestions for quality improvement.
Actively engage in good team working to facilitate effective relationships.

Assisting the Welsh Language Translators and Welsh Language Officer in the design, creation and/or translation of Welsh and/or bilingual content for use on the Health Boards internet/intranet sites and social media channels.
10.
Building and fostering good working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Health Board, including (but not limited to): Communications Team Patient Feedback Team 11.
Maintaining departmental stock control with regard to materials needed for Welsh Language Service, including promotional materials.
This will include the raising of requisitions via the ORACLE system.
12.
Carrying out specific projects/tasks as Directed by the Welsh Language Officer or Head of Compliance.
