About the roleAt Northumbrian Water we provide both water and sewerage services to 2.7 million customers in the Northeast of England.
This role focuses on our wastewater treatment service, aiming to enhance and protect the environment, whilst also improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of wildlife and the communities we serve.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team as a Wastewater Production Operator, where you will play a vital role in delivering this essential service.Full training will be provided to support the successful candidate to undertake the various technical aspects of this role.

Northumbrian Water is committed to professional development and offers opportunities for formal training and growth within the organisation.Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for operating and controlling wastewater treatment works and pumping stations across the Hexham.
You will carry out routine tasks to ensure that our wastewater assets are operating correctly.Daily tasks would involve sampling and analysing the water to ensure it is treated to the correct standards, identifying issues with equipment, and carrying out routine checks on the assets.
You would be using data from company systems to identify trends in performance and when issues arise, you will undertake fault-finding investigations with support from the wider Team.
During a normal day you will collaborate and communicate with a diverse range of teams to ensure we maintain compliance with our regulatory obligations and protect the environment.About youWe want to speak to people who can bring a good combination of technical and interpersonal skills.
Communication is essential in this role therefore we seek someone who is an excellent communicator, both verbally and written.
You will be a good problem-solver allowing you to respond quickly to issues, understand the problem, and identify the best solution.We are looking for a team player who is adaptable to meet a varied workload and someone who is also comfortable working alone with minimal supervision.
You will be proactive by nature and willing to make suggestions for improvement.If you have good attention to detail, then we would like to hear from you.
Monitoring the assets is done via visual checks on site, computer systems and lab analysis, so an eye for detail and ability to follow processes and procedures is required.
You will be computer literate and willing to use new Apps.Our motto is "Everyone Home Safe Everyday" therefore awareness of health and safety would be beneficial.
You would be using company safety devices to ensure you have the support and controls needed.The role involves pumps and process equipment so any prior experience or working with equipment would be advantageous, however this is not essential as training would be given.The water industry is forever changing therefore you need to be adaptable in order to meet business need.If you are practical, pragmatic and enjoy hands-on problem solving then this could be a great role for you.
