To be accountable and responsible for the management of radioactive waste, stockpiles and nuclear materials accountancy and safeguards on the LLWR Site.
Responsibilities Waste To own the strategy for radioactive waste management across the LLWR Site To lead in the promotion of the waste hierarchy and its implementation across the Site; To own the arrangements for Characterisation, Consignment and Storage of all radioactive waste across the LLWR site (Clearance and Exemption, Very Low Level Waste, Low Level Waste through to Plutonium Contaminated and all associated sub categories for treatment including Metals Recycling, Incineration, Supercompaction, Low Level Waste Disposal and Very Low Level Waste Disposal) Ensure that waste management at all stages is compliant with relevant regulations, standards and processes; To lead, change, influence and raise the visibility of Waste Management across the LLWR Site; To own the LLWR Site Joint Waste Management Plan and its delivery; To liaise with Regulators on matters relating to all Radioactive Waste Management including sources; Represent LLWR Site at the National Waste Programme Managers Meeting, Delivery Overview Group, Low Level Waste Practitioners Steering Group and other relevant cross estate practitioner / waste management events; Be the named point of contact on the Waste Services Contract; To own and ensure delivery of the management strategy for sources across the LLWR Site Stockpiles Develop and own the arrangements for stockpiled material generated on or imported to the LLWR Site To be accountable and responsible for the material deposited onto the stockpiles and ensure control is maintained.
To liaise with Regulators on matters relating to stockpile management.
Nuclear materials Accountancy & Safeguards (NMAS) To be appointed as NMAS Manager for the LLW Site To be accountable and responsible for nuclear materials accountancy and the safeguarding arrangements for the LLWR Site.
To liaise with Regulators on matters relating to nuclear material accountancy and safeguards Waste: To lead a team who provides advice and guidance on all available radioactive waste disposal and treatment routes to the Site; To own the integrated waste schedule for the Site; Ensure representation of the Waste Delivery Team at committees such as DRCs, SRCs, MEHSCs, PMPs etc; To own any management system documentation associated with the management of radioactive waste; Be process owner of the LLWR Generated Waste Management System; To deliver sustained and measured improvements in the day-to-day waste management service provided to customers; To lead in the development of a collaborative working relationship with internal customers, waste management services and other key stakeholders; Identify and manage risks associated with all radioactive waste management; To lead the waste delivery team, including supply chain and contractors, ensuring clear priorities are given, workloads are managed, and people and companies are held to account; Provide guidance, leadership and support to those within the waste delivery team, including supply chain and contractors; Work with customers to identify future forecasts of waste generation and the support required by the waste team; Ensure customers are supported in the development and evaluation of Best Available Technique documents; To own the contract for Sample Analysis and Bag Assay; To own the strategy, treatment and disposal of all sources from the LLWR Site; To lead the operational interface with Sellafield Limited; Be a member of the National Low-Level Waste Practitioners Steering Group; To own the LLWR Sites Waste Inventory and ensure the most accurate submissions are made to the NDA for the purposes of the UKRWI and WIF.
Stockpiles: Ensure material is compliantly deposited or taken from the designated stockpiles.
Nuclear materials Accountancy and Safeguards To liaise with the regulators and lead audits for nuclear materials accountancy and safeguards and; To own the Process for Nuclear Materials Accountancy and Safeguarding.
Appointing a Deputy Role holder will hold the following appointments when in post: Process Owner; Intelligent Customer; NMAS Manager; Corporate Radioactive Waste Advisor (Waste Delivery); SME - Radioactive Waste and, Business Change Manager.
Essential Degree qualified in STEM (orsignificant and demonstrable experience in a waste management roles) Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and other waste related legislation Detailed knowledge and understanding of Waste Acceptance Criteria for disposal and treatment of waste.
Experience of liaising with Regulators (Environment Agency and ONR) Desirable WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate in Waste and Resources Management Line Management experience JBRP1_UKTJ
