Job summary Safari Day Unit is an 8 bedded Children's emergency assessment area, assessing and treating children and their families.The Ward Receptionist is an integral member of the ward team who acts as an interface between the unit, hospital services, patients , families and the public.To perform clerical duties to assist with the smooth running of the children and young people's emergency assessment unit.
Main duties of the job To provide a friendly and informative first contact within the unit.Undertaking reception duties, dealing with hospital staff, parents and members of the public in an efficient, polite and courteous manner, answering queries, and communicating complex information where there may be barriers to understanding.
Persuasion, motivational and negotiating skills are essential.Maintaining security and privacy at all times is of paramount importance.

General telephonist responsibilities- dealing with telephone enquiries,communicating effectively with the ward team, patients, families and visitors, as well as other hospitals and transport teams whilst maintaining patient Prioritise workloads - responding to emergency factors and situationseffectively.Inputting and updating details on the Careflow system in a timely Registering patients, producing, tracking and retrieving notes.Transfer & discharge of patients ensuring that all details are correct Assisting the Clinical Staff regarding queriesLocal RA agents for RA Smartcards.
