Job summary The Chichester Centre is a modern unit providing low secure services for men and women.
The service is configured around two male wards and one female ward, with 15-17 service users on each of the wards.
Each ward has a well-established MDT led by a ward manager.
The MDTs include nursing, OT, social work, psychiatry and psychology.
There is an in-reach pharmacy, SALT and GP service.
We have a working together group (WTG) which meets fortnightly and includes service user representatives from each ward as well as staff.
The WTG take a lead on service improvement across the unit.
This is a challenging but incredibly rewarding role.
Hazel Ward is a 15 bedded female low secure forensic ward.
As Ward Manager, you will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team leading on the care and delivery for our service users.
We play a crucial part in supporting and advocating service users towards recovery, while maintaining the legal requirements within the MHA.
Experience of working within a forensic service is desirable, however, not essential.

Main duties of the job To be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of health professionals providing care over a 24-hour period, including responsibility for assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the patients within their sphere of responsibility.To ensure that the team functions in line with the care group core business.To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trust's objectives and priorities.
The Trust's success will be dependent on all managers playing an active role to make sure the existing areas of good employment practice are universally embedded within the organisation.To deliver a service within the agreed budgets and resources ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to degree/diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health/adult) appropriate to the job role.
Knowledge/Experience Essential Extensive experience of acute care in the care group and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice.
Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff.
Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance.
Experience of managing staff.
Skills Essential Ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information with staff, service users, carers and other stakeholders.
An open and facilitative style of leadership which can be adapted when necessary to ensure delivery of objectives.
An understanding of effective systems for integrated governance and the management of clinical and non-clinical risks.
Good performance management skills combining clarity around expectations, direction and holding others to account.
