Location: Royal Victoria Park Nursery, Bath The Parks Service has a unique position available for an individual to work closely with our community as a Volunteer Liaison Officer [RP330 Community Engagement Officer I)].
The role will be to engage with the community and community groups to understand local park and open space issues and involve the community in supporting the provision of park services.
The focus is on empowering, enabling, and supporting local communities.
The individual will need to be a strong team player with a collaborative work style.
We are looking for a candidate who has an ability to cope with conflicting demands and practical challenges.
One that can work individually, without supervision, as part of a wider Parks Team.
You'll be a good facilitator and able to work in partnership within the constraints of the Parks Service and Council policy and procedures.
Your organisational skills will have been proven through past experiences leading enjoyable volunteer sessions in parks.
You will have had experience of working within an operational team and have sufficient practical experience of grounds maintenance to know how a parks team operates and who to liaise with over necessary permissions.
The post will be a mix of office-based activities and practical gardening and conservation tasks with volunteers and Friends Groups.
You'll be the go-to person for all the groups and at times this will be challenging as you'll not be able to deliver on all their requests and suggestions.
You'll need to be tactful and thoughtful in managing the competing demands and restricted parks service resources.
