Global Manager Selection (GMS) is the designated HSBC Group Centre of Reference for selection, research, and approval of fund management groups, long only funds, and ETFs.
GMS is a global team, based in London, Hong Kong, and Bangalore, with research responsibilities across all asset classes encompassing Equity, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset and Sustainability.
The team's role is to ensure that mutual funds and ETFs recommended to clients or used by Group businesses have been subjected to the Group's approved due diligence and selection process and have been manufactured by an approved fund management group.
An important part of the fund and ETF selection is the interaction with the businesses that offer these products for sale to customers, across all of HSBC's Global Private Banking & Wealth (GBP&W), Insurance and Hang Seng entities.
This function is managed by the Product Specialist team within GMS which drive the high level of service expected of GMS by businesses in the network.
We are recruiting for a Senior Product Specialist to join this team in Hong Kong.
The Product Specialist team is closely involved in designing and implementing strategic initiatives across funds and ETFs business.
The role requires engagement across GPB&W, Insurance and Hang Seng funds teams to ensure the product shelf of available funds and ETFs remains best-in-class and suited to the investment environment, including aligned to GPB&W CIO Views.
HSBC maintains an open-architecture platform for funds and ETFs through offering funds and ETFs from a large number of third-party asset managers, supporting our strategic initiatives across markets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing GPB&W's key needs as related to funds and ETFs.
The candidate will lead a programme of regular engagement with key markets and senior HSBC stakeholders as appropriate to drive continued success in HSBC investment fund and ETF business within GPB&W. In this role you will: Manage the needs of 65+ business entities that make us of GMS-approved funds and ETFs in GPB&W including Global Private Banking, Retail Wealth, Insurance and Hang Seng.
Drive strategic priorities and commercialisation initiatives across funds business.
Ensure the funds product offering is best-in-class and aligned to CIO Views and the economic environment.
Collaborate with GMS investment due diligence (IDD), organisational due diligence (ODD) and asset manager relations team within GMS as well as external stakeholders in HSBC local teams and with asset managers to identify and define product needs and bring to market.
Work with business entities on requests for new fund coverage and build investment cases for new fund requests.
Co-ordinate product-related activities and ensure fund launches and related initiatives are followed through to completion and appropriate reporting made to senior GPB&W and Group management as required.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: Extensive experience in ETFs / Funds Management - essential.
Asset Management, Wealth Management or Private Banking experience - essential Investor relations and/or funds marketing experience - desirable Practical knowledge and experience of financial markets, the macroeconomic environment, risk management, regulations and their application to the fund market - essential An analytical mindset, and the ability to manage strategic partnerships including that of executive level stakeholders is key This role is based in London.
