This position is part of a dynamic IT support service responsible for over 7,000 users and over 3,000 PCs across a network covering Health Service locations throughout our Trust.
The primary role of this post is to provide a User Account administration function.
This involves receiving requests for new user accounts and modifications for existing user accounts.
You will administer accounts within Windows Active Directory, MS Exchange, our Patient Administration System, and various other applications and databases.
York or Scarborough based Support requests will include Requests to create new logins Amend access rights and update details on existing accounts Troubleshoot access related problems within key applications Maintenance work - ending accounts/resolving software Established procedures must be followed for handling routine faults/work requests.
The team is enthusiastic and suggestions regarding possible process improvements or resolutions to problems are encouraged.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have good IT skills, including keyboard skills, and the desire to help our staff maximise their use of our IT systems to assist with patient care.
You should have good listening and questioning skills with the ability to clearly communicate with users and technical colleagues via telephone and e-mail.
You will have the judgement to know when to ask for advice, coupled with a logical approach to problem solving and common sense.
The ability to keep calm and work under pressure is vital to efficiently handle peaks in demand.
Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail is as important as the ability to work quickly.
Therefore you should be able to prioritise your own workload whilst being aware of the overall demands on the good understanding of computer accounts ( Windows Active Directory) is desirable, coupled with the ability to quickly learn new systems, concepts and processes.Candidates should have a good standard of education ( diploma level) and be able to demonstrate competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.Experience of working in the NHS and using IT Service Desk call logging systems will be an advantage but is not essential.

Person Specification Education, Qualifications & Training Essential Educated to NVQ Level 4/5, BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent , or equivalent experience Understanding of IT issues and processes Understanding of Information Governance and access principle of least privilege A good working knowledge of various computer systems, including MS Windows and MS Excel, MS Outlook acquired through diploma or equivalent experience/qualification Desirable Knowledge of Clinical Systems, particularly York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's CPD Knowledge of Call Logging systems Knowledge of MS Access or other database applications Knowledge of other Healthcare eg ICE Pathology Reporting Experience & Knowledge Required Essential Experience of following procedures and understanding their importance and the implications of failing to do so Experience of working in an Administrative or Customer Services role where attention to detail has been a key element Capable of learning new software quickly and ability to grasp new concepts Desirable Experience of creating documentation for procedures and work instructions Experience of providing support in an IT environment Experience with Data Quality Experience of working with IT in a customer orientated service Communication and relationship skills Essential Ability to communicate well with people at all levels of the organisation, explaining complex IT issues in a way non-technical staff can understand Skills & Attributes Essential Good standard of written English (spelling accuracy is important in maintenance of computer records) Advanced keyboard skills Attention to detail
