They are seeking a Commercial Underwriting Manager who will have responsibility for managing a team of home based UK Commercial/Trades Underwriters, whilst working in close collaboration with the MD, who the role reports directly to.

Home based, with regular Broker meetings & team get togethers, the ideal candidate will be based in the South up to the Midlands and have extensive experience in Commercial and or Contractor/Tradesman Underwriting, ideally coupled with team leadership experience.
The role: Working in close collaboration with the Managing Director, Group Partners and Capacity Providers to develop and implement the agreed underwriting strategy and maintain responsibility for ensuring its delivery to achieve financial income, GWP and loss ratio objectives.
To maintain and manage the sign off of quotes over the authority levels of the individual underwriters and referrals into Capacity providers.
Taking ownership for working with our first line compliance to proactively identify and help manage through to implementation any changes to ensure FCA compliance is maintained including: facilitation of External Audits, Binder Breaches, Licence breaches, Risk Register updates Accountable for assisting Third Party Claims Suppliers and Capacity providers with claims indemnity queries, ensuring any learning and development areas are shared with Underwriters.
Claims analysis and Large loss reviews, working with Data team and actuaries to deliver monthly ULR analysis and reports Responsibility for internal Audit of the Underwriting team, which will include training and development, file audit and technical advice Responsibility for ongoing updates of Underwriting Guides and Endorsement Library Responsibility for ongoing review and updating of Policy Wordings, IPIDs and NTPs Responsibility for technical performance of Scheme portfolio including annual audits and claims reviews Contribute to ongoing systems updates and improvements in collaboration with Head of Commercial and IT Requirements: Previous underwriting experience on Core market products-UK commercial, trades etc Strong Trading and negotiation skills Awareness and understanding of Compliance rules Awareness and understanding of the FCA Rules and how to comply with them A sound knowledge of policy documentation and wording Application of underwriting skill and judgment A working knowledge of market wordings and products.
A working knowledge of the law as it relates to insurance A good understanding of the broker environment and broker relationships Commercial underwriting experience, or experience of dealing with commercial products in a broking environment Ability to train or guide team members Bunn Abbott Consulting Limited are acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
