Training Officer - Driving Unit

Role Purpose To research, design and deliver learning & development programmes in support of organisational requirements for West Midlands Police.
To offer advice and support to the Learning & Development Management team in devising training solutions appropriate to current and future needs.
Key Responsibilities: To manage learners and the learning environment.
To research, prepare and plan training materials according to College of Policing Learning Outcomes (Licence) or organisational requirements.
To design and deliver learning & development programmes across the West Midlands Police Force area.
To support student learning and development using the most appropriate and effective mediums.
Develop and maintain Stakeholder engagement with Subject Matter Experts.
Provide relevant Subject Matter Expert support.
Identify, develop and disseminate current best practice and learning from Evidence Based Policing.
Raise awareness of new and emerging legislation.
Review relevant course material, ensuring it remains credible, current and operationally effective.
Use coaching and assessment skills to enhance student performance, provide feedback and prepare Learning Development Plans where appropriate.
Provide trainer resilience in the delivery of wider organisational requirements.
Maintain knowledge and skills with regard to national, regional and local developments in IT systems.
Maintain a flexible approach to working as some training will require delivery at evenings and weekend Additional duties: Promote force policies in terms of Code of Ethics and Health and Safety.
Manage working environments in accordance with local Risk Assessments.
Provide evidence of personal performance in support of the Electronic Development Review (eDR) procedure.
Perform any other duties or training commensurate with the role and grading for this post.
Maintain Continued Professional Development (CPD) Knowledge and Experience Essential: Hold a recognised training or teaching qualification or have experience in training delivery and design.
Willing to complete a Police Training Roles Learning & Development Programme.
Practical knowledge and understanding of current policing challenges, efficiency and diversity issues.
Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
DSA approved Driving Instructor or experience as a standard or advanced police driver.
Maintain a level of driver skills required to effectively deliver the training.
Desirable: Driver and Road Policing Training Be qualified as an Standard IPP driver and hold a current Advanced Grade Qualities and Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Able to influence and negotiate.
Able to develop and maintain effective working partnerships.
Effective Time Management skills.
Competent in the use of IT including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or other presentation formats Probationary Policy: Under the Probation Policy, if you are currently in your probation period, during your probationary period you will not be permitted to apply for alternative police staff roles within the Force unless there are exceptional circumstances.
In such cases, you would require the support of your line manager prior to applying for alternative roles, and if successful, your probationary period will start over.- Policies - Probation Period (Police Staff) (wmpad.local) Hours and Location The working hours are 7am - 3pm Monday to Friday.
The role is based in Halesowen Police Station.
Vetting Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
