This multi-disciplinary team of Nurse andConsultant Colposcopists provides services across our three hospital sites;Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Treatment Centre and The AlexandraHospital, Redditch.
We are looking for anexperienced, enthusiastic and committed nurse with a passion for women's healthissues.
You will be supportedprofessionally by the Gynaecology Clinical Specialist Nurse team to provideclinically excellent, compassionate care.
As the successful candidate youwill combine strong clinical credibility and the ability to inspire andinfluence change with patient outcomes, patient experiences, quality, safetyand risk management.
We require that the successful candidatewill register with the BSCCP to begin training with successful accreditation atthe end of training period.
You will be supported by experience NurseColposcopists to achieve this.
This is a band 6 role which will move to band 7following successful completion of training.
We are looking for someone withexcellent communication skills to engage with patients and colleagues at alllevels.
Main duties of the job To provide competent and skilled colposcopy procedures under the direct supervision of the lead Colposcopist.
Whilst training as a Nurse Colposcopist it is expected that you will complete colposcopy training under initially direct supervision and within clearly defined parameters.
To work as a trainee nurse Colposcopist and not simultaneously as a registered nurse member of the clinic staff.
The Trainee Nurse Colposcopist will sit within the Specialist Nurse rota and be available to attend colposcopy clinics across the county Monday to Friday to ensure training needs are met.
As a member of the gynaecology directorate multidisciplinary team to have responsibility for ensuring assessment of care needs, development and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and co-ordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.
To contribute to the continuing development of practice to all members of the directorate.
To supervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff as appropriate.
To liaise closely with the Colposcopy lead trainer and any external mentors to ensure training needs are being met.

Act as a team leader where appropriate ensuring effective teamworkand promote healthy working relations with support from mentor /trainer.Monitor and maintain own and others health, safety and securityTo work within an ethical framework utilising the NMC code ofconduct, defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of thedepartment, organisation to promote safe and effective evidence based practiceand contribute to quality improvement.To understand and take ownership of own training pathway with dueconsideration of the requirements of the BSCCP for qualification.In the absence of the Lead specialist nurse when deligated to takecharge of an identified area of work and manage the standards of care and dailyresponsibilities, including work allocation, deployment and supervision ofstaff to ensure smooth running of the area.3.
Education and Continuing ProfessionalDevelopmentTo maintain competency and produce evidence demonstratingcontinued professional development in the role of the Nurse Colposcopist.To ensure that whilst training BSCCP log book requirements arekept in a timely manner and trainer is aware of ongoing training needs.To be conversant and comply with trust policies and regulationsensure attendance at trust mandatory training sessions and those deemednecessary to role.
To Lead Colposcopy Nurse when further competency /development is required.
To participate in personal / career development plan to maintainand develop attitudes, skills and knowledge facilitating personal andprofessional growth in order to maximise contribution to and quality of servicedelivery.To support the personal and professional growth of new, registeredand non registered staff, and learnersin order to maximise their contribution to and quality of service delivery.To participate fully in the implementation of staff personaldevelopment plans to facilitate on going development.4.
Quality / Research and DevelopmentTo contribute to the audit of colposcopy services and develop aworking knowledge of reporting system and quality initiatives within field ofColposcopy.Demonstrate research awareness and ability to participate in andregularly support on going research in nursing / medical practice, clinicaltrials, medical research and equipment testing.To work within an ethical and legal framework utilising the NMCcode of professional conduct, defined policies, procedures, standards andprotocols of the department / organisation to promote safe and effectiveevidence based practice and contribute to quality improvement.To work within the guidance described within the BSCCP outlinestatement and training Log.Propose changes within own area of work using evidence basedpractice.Report and investigate when delegated incidents in relation toColposcopy nurse role using the DATIX reporting system.
