Please note that this role may close early should sufficient applications be received, so early application is advised.We have an exciting opportunity for successful candidates to train as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner in our Adult Drug and Alcohol services.We have two places available in Cornwall and you will be enrolled with the University of Exeter to undertake the training element of the course.
Being a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner involves providing compassionate, person centred care for adults (including older people), which is hopeful and focused on their goals.
It begins with skilled information gathering, information giving and shared decision-making, with the intention of enabling access to the best community and professional resources that can help.
It also involves delivering specific psychological interventions under supervision from a suitably qualified psychological professional.The trainee salary for this role will be £25,147, rising to £28,407 upon qualifying.
This is a 12 month contract, ending in March 2026.
Upon completion of your qualification (within the 12 month period) an offer of a permanent position within the service will be reviewed.
Visa requirementsAs these roles are funded by Health Education England for home fees and not for international fees.
The University requires you either need to have a UK passport, or have settled status in the UK.

This means you will need either: For PGCert (level 7) - you will need to evidence you have a degree at 2:2 or above in any relevant subjectFor GradCert (level 6) - evidence of study at level 5 courses comes in the form of the 2nd year of a bachelor's programme or a HND.
Level 5 qualifications are:diploma of higher education (DipHE)foundation degreehigher national diploma (HND)level 5 award/certificate/diploma/NVQ Applicants will need to make a successful application to the University supporting the placement.

Completion of the qualification is over an academic year.Entrants do not need to possess previous clinical or professional expertise in mental health, but should have demonstrable interpersonal skills and values consistent with providing hopeful, person-centred care.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following criteria, please use your cover letter to outline how you meet the below: Effective communication skills in discussing highly sensitive and complex information appropriately with people whose understanding may be temporarily or permanently impaired.Commitment to completing the trainee course at selected university in 12 months as per the university timetable.Communication with professionals and multidisciplinary working.Ability to be responsive to service users' needs and choices; and uphold their right to be treated with dignity and respect.Inclusion of carers and families in line with the service user's wishes.Experience or knowledge of formulation of care plans with service users including relapse prevention.
Experience in working with substance misuse is desirable.
