Job summary An exciting opportunity to join our service on a fixed term 12 month contract as a Recruit to Train (RTT) Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
These are Health Education England (HEE) funded posts in partnership with the University of Derby as part of the strategy to increase access to evidence-based interventions to children and young people with anxiety and/or depression.You will complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy working specifically with young people and work 3 days in clinical setting as part of your study.
All clinical work is supervised (1- 1) by a service supervisor and also a University supervisor (HEI peer supervision).As part of your training, you will be expected to attend Derby University 2 days per week where they offer a blended approach to learning.We have 2 posts available to be based within either Telford or Shrewsbury.There is a non negotiable start date for service induction on 13th January 2025 followed by 2 weeks of university attendance commencing 20th January 2025.
You must be able to travel to University of Derby as part of your induction and throughout your training.This is a fixed term 12 month post.
Main duties of the job This is a training role within the Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP-IAPT).
The post-holder will work within the BeeU (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) providing interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role.
The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of CYP-IAPT practice along with evidence based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.

The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.
The post holder will work with young people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
If you have suitable experience/qualifications and an interest in working with young people in a mental health environment and would like to further develop your skills, this could be the post for you.This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a very busy work and study schedule.
You will be an employee at the service but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course.
As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level.
Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work).
Protected study time or teaching days are typically two days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions.
Applicants must be willing to travel to Derby University to attend their lectures.The post holder is responsible for the assessment for and provision of CBT intervention in accordance with Service and University guidance and supervision based on a comprehensive formulation of the persons needs and the development of a relevant treatment plan based upon negotiated goals and relevant evidence-based interventions.
You must also be aware of the BABCP code of standards and ethics and adhere to these.The post holder, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, will provide CBT interventions to support the person to meet their agreed goals and coordinate and/ or participate in the review of progress towards those goals, utilising recommended outcome measures, involving the service user and any identified carer throughout the intervention.
Applicants would need either a core profession or be able to complete a KSA (submitted directly to University of Derby) with the application.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
Registered Mental Health Nurse or HCPC registered professional relevant to Children's mental health.
Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
Desirable Experience of working within CAMHS Experience Essential A minimum of 2 years experience of working with children, young people and families with a range of emotional/mental health, behavioural and specific needs (additional health, developmental, offending or substance misuse needs).
