Job summary An exciting opportunity is available for a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist, to join the well established and friendly mortuary team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Working cross site you will participate in all mortuary processes providing patient care after death, cleaning and disinfection, developing knowledge and skills in post mortem examination techniques, and ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.The post holder will work closely with both the bereavement and medical examiners teams.
Main duties of the job This is a varied role blending high standards of post mortem care, supporting clinicians and other professionals along with maintaining all requirements to ensure the HTA regulations and CQC are upheld.
The post holder is expected to participate in regular cross site attendance at both hospitals, and following initial training and achieving competency, will participate in the out of hours on call rota for the mortuary service.
Flexibility and good communication are essential service requirements.
IT skills are needed to ensure record keeping and document control is regularly completed, updated and available for scrutiny providing full traceability at all times.Those applying should be committed, enthusiastic, have an eye for detail and be prepared to work in a challenging, and sometimes emotive environment.
Achieving Anatomical Pathology Technology RSPH Level 3 and level 4 Diplomas is a requirement of the post.
Level 3 qualified APTs will be considered for this post.There will be a second practical interview for suitable candidates, date to be confirmed.
