Job summary We are looking to recruit two or three highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistants to join our friendly, dedicated and dynamic Inpatient Therapy team.
The successful candidate will be working in rehabilitation across physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
We treat people with a wide range of conditions, primarily in orthopaedics, frailty and neurology, and our service is continually developing and improving to meet the needs of our patients and commissioners.
Main duties of the job This posts can be full time or part time.
The base will be either the wards at Bognor Hospital intermediate care unit (ICU) or Arundel Hospital, and the post holder may occasionally be expected to work at other sites.
The service covers three hospitals/ICUs ; Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital, Salvington Lodge in Worthing and Arundel Hospital.They will also be required to support service developments, and show flexibility when adapting to change.The service covers six/seven days a week.As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to: Receive support from other therapy colleaguesReceive clinical supervision from registered therapistsParticipate in the in-service learning programmeDevelop your practice, relevant to the teamParticipate in competency development through the Calderdale FrameworkSupport development of other staff outside of your professional groupAssist in shaping the future clinical practice of the therapy team We are looking for someone who likes working with people and is reliable, flexible and adaptable in their work.
Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant or similar is desirable, and applicants should have experience of delivering care and/or rehabilitation to older people with various needs.

Full driving licence and access to a car for work are required.The successful candidate will: Assist the physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff in the treatment of specific patientsHave their own delegated patient caseload and clinical dutiesSupervise exercise programmes and practise activities of daily living under the guidance of a therapistAssess and treat patients according to protocols, monitoringtheir progression and making minor alterations totheir treatment programmes as requiredWork without direct supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problemsPrepare and keep treatment areas and equipment clean and tidy Person Specification Qualification Essential GCSE Maths and English or equivalent NVQ3 or equivalent level of knowledge Commitment to development of skills and attainment of competencies Skill Essential Excellent verbal communication and ability to build rapport Able to give instructions to people that can be followed and easily interpreted Ability to prioritise and plan delegated work from a variety of sources Ability to work with others and independently Desirable Knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices gained through experience Basic level of theoretical knowledge relevant to clinical setting Experience Essential At least 12 months experience of working in a caring environment, either in health, social or voluntary services Desirable Experience of working within a rehabilitation or therapy setting Knowledge Essential Basic understanding of statutory health and social services Skills Essential Ability to perform under pressure Ability to record information accurately
