This role will enable you to earn while working towards professional qualifications (level 3) and registration without the commitment of student debt.Our apprentice opportunities are for individuals who are enthusiastic, caring and compassionate and have the drive and ambition to complete a degree apprenticeship to become a registered Therapeutic Radiographer.

Main duties of the job The role is academically challenging but also gives the opportunity to interact with patients and other healthcare professionals whilst you gain the required skills that will lead you to an exciting new career.As part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will fulfil a key role in providing radiotherapy, care and support to patients.We have supportive clinical structures which will enable you to build on your existing skills, support service users, develop your practice and enable your career to progress.You will be part of a team whose focus is on delivering the best care for our patients whilst offering you the care and support your needs throughout your training (and beyond).Throughout your training, you will work under the supervision and guidance of our registered radiotherapy team members.
You will learn how radiotherapy forms an important role in the treatment of cancer and how to plan and deliver radiotherapy in a safe, guided way.Attend the mandatory academic training for the Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship programme at the partner university and make a commitment to study both within working hours and at home for the duration of the apprenticeship course.You will work as part of a team responsible for providing an efficient Radiotherapy service at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

Job description Job responsibilities Please refer to the full job description attached which describes the role of the therapeutic radiographer apprentice.We welcome informal discussions prior to your application - call us on 01823 342812 or to arrange a visit to our department.For full details on the apprenticeship and entry requirements please contact UWE or visit the link below: Person Specification Qualifications Essential Level 3 qualifications or equivalent to meet HEI entry requirements BBC 112 UCAS points DMM BTEC in a science or healthcare subject 12 level 3 credits at Merit or above in an access to science or healthcare 60 credits at 60% or above in a relevant foundation degree GCSE English and Maths at 4 or above or equivalent Experience Essential Knowledge and understanding of promoting patient independence Able to work as part of a team Good communication skills both written and verbal Ability to work under pressure and with flexibility Desirable Experience of working within a Radiotherapy Department Experience of working directly with patients providing care or treatment interventions Additional Criteria Essential Flexible attitude to service provision and enthusiasm for change Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative Able to manage own emotions and cope in sometimes difficult situations with patients or their relatives Commitment to attend the mandatory academic training for the Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship programme at the partner university and make a commitment to study both within working hours and at home for the duration of the apprenticeship course.
