In light of these changes we are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) with excellent clinical knowledge in Anaesthetic Scrub and Recovery to join our team and take a leading role in caring for burns patients during surgery.The health care team embraces our nursing strategy for the Trust being part of something special, which means being trustworthy, supported, recognized, respected and rewarded.The role will be based in Burns Theatre within the Burns Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Main duties of the job The role of a theatre practitioner is to provide high standards of peri-operative care to patients whilst giving skilled support to surgeons, anaesthetist and the theatre team.
Theatre practitioners need a broad knowledge and skill base, including excellent communication, management and teamwork skills as they are involved with the assessment, delivery and evaluation of care ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout their perioperative journey.SurgeryYou'll play an important part of the surgical team by preparing all the necessary equipment for surgery.You will ensure the correct safety checks are carried out prior to the start of the procedure and are responsible for all surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during the operation.You will become efficient and effective in anticipating the requirements of the surgical team and responding effectively ensuring high standards of clinical outcome and best patient experience.AnaestheticTo help and support patients before surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia.RecoveryYou'll support and monitor patient on arrival to the recovery area and provide appropriate treatment until they have recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery; assessing and treating the patient until they are discharged to a ward.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner Desirable Degree educated Mentorship qualification Scrub qualification Experience Essential Experience of working in an acute healthcare setting Supports and contributes to team approaches and working.
Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately.
Desirable Experience of working in a operating theatre setting.
Evidence of undertaking mentor/preceptor role.
Evidence of working within multiple surgical specialties.
