Technical Underwriter – Petersfield or Colchester – ARD1065325Geo Underwriting Services Limited is a future-facing Commercial MGA with a focus on providing specialist insurance to niche markets.
To support its growth and ongoing development we are looking for a Technical Underwriter to assist with the MGAs central underwriting activity which includes technical referrals, acquisition due diligence, technical audit, product development, policy and endorsement wording drafting, standardisation and review.As part of this role, you will also assist in the preparation of MGA-wide Technical Bulletins and training and standardisation of underwriting guides and rules across the MGA.What does a Technical Underwriter here do?This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.
Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following:Undertake the role of a central technical underwriting referral point for commercial underwriting matters across multiple classes of business.Support existing and new product development from a technical perspective working closely with relevant sector specialists.Wordings oversight and development – ensuring wordings are clear and concise and meet capacity and regulatory requirements.Management support and technical challenge on internal/external audits.Acquisition due diligence.Undertake Underwriting Quality Reviews, thematic and technical, against an agreed schedule and scope.Support the delivery of a scheduled technical training and development programme.Alternative Risk Transfer/Captive management support and Reinsurance facilitation (treaty and facultative).What are we looking for in our next Technical Underwriter?Understanding of the workings of an Insurer/MGA/Delegated Authority business.Experience within a technical underwriting and/or claims role covering multiple classes of commercial business.Good knowledge of general commercial and personal lines insurance products and distribution channels.Knowledge of the Insurance market, capacity providers and portfolio placement.Knowledge of underwriting, pricing and product governance and the current regulatory environment.Understanding of professional qualification and skills frameworks relating to Insurance.In return you will be welcomed and supported by Geo Underwriting, part of the Ardonagh family, with opportunities to earn your annual salary plus a role-based incentive plan and grow your career.
