Hours of Work: 4.5 day week Staff Benefits: Life Insurance, Medicash scheme, Free car parking on site, Canteen, Career progression, Flexitime #wbstaff Job Title: Technical Specification Co-Ordinator Department: Sales Responsible to: Head of Sales Purpose of Post As part of the Wrightbus sales department, this person will contribute to the flow and accuracy of information in relation to the sales specification.
This role will require strong working relationships between the customer, the sales representative and Wrightbus engineering.
The role will contribute to the efficiency of the sales team and the engineer team by developing and maintaining stronger links between these two departments and ensuring that both are focused on customer needs.
Key Tasks: 1.
Assist NPD in the formulation of new product specifications to ensure commonality with current product specifications.
2.
Take responsibility for the specification from initial bid stage through to completion to ensure that all information is complete before providing to the design engineering department.
3.
Management of the customer specification to ensure that it aligns with the tender submission 4.
Management of the base specification to ensure alignment with the standard BOM.
5.
Manage new option proposal to customers and into the business in regard to: a.
Option costs are calculated based on detailed estimates of material and labour.
b.
An accurate understanding of what has been agreed with the customer c. Time line for introduction d. Ensuring new options are manufactured to expected cost 6.
Act as the link between Sales and Design Engineering to provide the smooth flow of information between departments in a timely manner.
7.
Reporting on and meeting the agreed KPIs for the department.
Tender/Bid stage 1.
At bid stage, to be the technical expert in the sales team to provide technical advice and ensure response is accurate and achievable.
Tender Award stage 1.
Working with the account manager and the customer to agree final specifications for submission into Wrightbus build process.
2.
Liaise with Sales Team to ensure that all necessary information is clearly communicated in the customer specification.
3.
Ensure specifications are released into the process complete and on time.
Build stage 1.
Liaising with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers to ensure that the proposed build aligns with the customer's requirements and expectations.
2.
Manage specification changes through the business to ensure departments have information to take appropriate actions Contract analysis 1.
Analysis of the expected specification against the bill of material to identify discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
Product Standards 1.
Maintain standard specifications 1.
Ensure commonality between product specifications 2.
Ensure base specifications are maintained in line with company and market requirements 2.
Ensure understanding of, and compliance to, Standard specifications through various departments Continuous improvement 1.
Work across departments and with Head of Sales to review the current sales specifications and realign it with today' business needs.
2.
Take an active role in the development of a new configurator system to provide more accurate costs, direct from configurator, into the tender process.
3.
Assist in the streamlining of the department to make the sales process more efficient while continuing to meet customer (internal and external) needs.
