Job Description Technical Manager Location//Style of Work : Harrogate Head Office // Flexible Working Pattern Background: Our client is a fast-growing independent multi-disciplinary engineering, planning and environmental consultancy specialising in the design and consenting of power system projects including overhead lines and underground cables.
Across the company we offer design solutions, planning and environmental consultancy expertise as well as site-based services including overhead line surveys, design studies relating to overhead lines and underground cable schemes, condition inspections, site investigations and engineering/ environmental surveys.
Their business predominantly collaborates with the major network operators in the UK as well as key contractors as they aim to meet the demands of the accelerating pace of electricity infrastructure development to meet the targets of Net Zero.
Business context: We will shape our engineering team around key staff.
This will include developing a Civil and Structural Team that sits within the engineering group, of which the suitable candidate will lead this team.
Roles and Responsibilities: · Provide strategic leadership for the overhead line design function within Energyline.
· Lead the most complex and high-profile design projects, ensuring excellence in delivery.
· Ability to hold the role of Principal Designer as per CDM 2015 regulations · Develop and enforce design standards, processes, and best practices.
· Mentor and develop senior engineers and technical leaders.
· Collaborate with executive management/ board members to shape the strategic direction of the engineering department.
· Represent the organisation in industry forums, conferences, and regulatory bodies.
· Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and improvement in design methodologies and technologies.
· Sufficient knowledge of OHL principals and best practices to act as an Expert Witness.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards Requirements T&D.
