The StephenLongfellow Academy areseeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Higher LevelTeaching Assistant - Reading.
This role is of great importance to our workas an Academy - the successful applicant will be expected to complement theprofessional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learningactivities focused on reading under an agreed system of supervision.
This mayinvolve planning, preparing and delivering reading activities forindividuals/groups or short term for whole classes (PPA cover) and monitoringpupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils' achievement, progressand development.
The postholder will be responsible for the management and development of a specialistreading area within the academy and/or management of other Teaching Assistantsincluding allocation and monitoring of work, appraisal and training.
Theideal applicant will have:
Supportstudents with reading and literacy skills under the direction of the teacher.
Have a goodunderstanding of child development and learning processes.
Have a level 2qualification in Numeracy/Literacy (or willingness to work towards).
Have aqualification in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)GCSE level.
Have HigherLevel Teaching Assistant status (or willingness to work towards).
