About The Role: As a Teaching Assistant (Mental Health) , you will provide vital support to students who may face mental health challenges, offering a safe, understanding, and supportive environment in which they can thrive academically and emotionally.
You'll work closely with teachers and other school staff to ensure these students receive the support they need to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (Mental Health): Provide in-class support to students with mental health needs, assisting them with their learning and emotional well-being.
Work one-on-one or in small groups to support students who may be struggling with mental health challenges, helping them engage with their studies.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring students feel valued and supported.
Assist in the development of tailored strategies to support students' mental health and well-being.
Collaborate with teachers, mental health professionals, and other staff to monitor and assess student progress.
Offer emotional support and encouragement to students, helping them build self-confidence and resilience.
Requirements of the Mental Health TA: A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting students' mental health and learning.
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant for Mental Health or in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
A genuine passion for working with children and young people who may face mental health challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
A good understanding of mental health issues in children and young people.
The ability to create a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable and encouraged to learn.

Have an up-to-date CV and two relevant references from within the last two years.
Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
