The Role: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with SEMH needs in managing their behavior and achieving their academic and personal goals.
Your responsibilities will include: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
Implementing behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and de-escalate challenging situations.
Building positive and trusting relationships with students, using a person-centered approach to understand and address their individual needs.
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to develop and implement individual behavior support plans (BSPs) for students.
Supporting students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and emotional regulation techniques.
Providing guidance and support to classroom teachers in implementing inclusive and supportive practices.
Requirements: To excel in this role, you will need: Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or similar setting.
A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
