About the role: As a Teaching Assistant with specialism in ASD, you will provide tailored assistance to children with ASD, enhancing their engagement with the curriculum, promoting positive social interactions and supporting their emotional well-being.
This role is ideal for a skilled individual committed to helping young people overcome obstacles and thrive in an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.
Essential qualities that we are looking for: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students diagnosed with ASD, providing personalised support to help them access the curriculum effectively.
Develop and implement structured strategies and routines that address the unique needs of students with Autism, fostering an atmosphere of consistency and predictability.
Facilitate social interactions and develop communication skills, encouraging students to engage with peers and staff.
Assist with sensory and emotional regulation techniques, ensuring students can manage their surroundings and participate fully in classroom activities.
Monitor, assess and record each student's progress, communicating insights and recommendations to teachers, parents and specialist staff as needed.
Collaborate closely with the teaching team, SEN coordinators and other support staff to promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Successful Candidate Will: Must have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role in an SEN-based classroom setting .
Have a strong understanding of ASD and commitment to employing evidence-based support strategies.
Have impressive communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive, trustworthy relationships with students, staff and families.
Possess patience, empathy and flexibility, essential for meeting the varied needs of students with ASD.
Have a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team setting.

Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
