Salary: £80 - £95 per day, depending on experience
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and inclusive school environment in South Birmingham.
This flexible role offers full-time, part-time, or contract opportunities, starting in January 2025.
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and promoting positive emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and support to students with SEMH needs Work 1:1 and in small groups to provide additional support Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, providing positive reinforcement Support students in developing social and emotional skills to engage with learning Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment Monitor and track student progress, reporting to relevant staff and professionals Adhere to safeguarding and child protection guidelines Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to support student well-being and progress
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Level 3 qualification or a minimum of 6 months' experience working in an educational setting Experience supporting students with SEMH needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent behaviour management skills A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude toward challenging situations The ability to work independently and as part of a team
