We are the most oversubscribed in Newham and the seventh most oversubscribed non-selective state school in the country according to The Times.
As a result of this strong demand for places at our school, the local authority spent over £20m creating additional places at our school.
The net effect of this is that our admission number for entry into year 7 increased from 300 to 420 in September 2022 and over the next 5 years, a total of 600 students will join our school roll.
In view of this, we need to recruit additional staff to join our existing team of highly dedicated and passionate professionals.
About our History department History is a very popular subject in our school and is taught at all key stages by a team of 11 highly qualified teachers.
At GCSE, the AQA specification is taught and student outcomes are outstanding.
In 2022, 55% of the cohort of 150 students achieved a grade 7-9 in the full course GCSE, with 17% achieving a grade 9.
At A level, History is an equally popular choice and we currently have 140 students studying the OCR GCE specification.
In 2022, the average grade achieved at A level was A+.
Politics is also taught at A level and in 2022, the average grade was A+.
There are 161 students currently studying the Edexcel GCE A level specification.
Students enjoy participating in a range of extra-curricular opportunities outside of the classroom.
In the younger years students go on trips and attend clubs where they discuss a wide range of historical issues whilst our older students complete research projects in the local community and regularly attend lectures and seminars at local universities.
Who we are looking for We wish to employ a Teacher who has a good subject knowledge and is passionate about sharing their knowledge with young people.
You must be a reflective practitioner and be committed to strong personal growth and continuing professional development.
This position would suit a newly a qualified teacher or a more experienced teacher looking to broaden their experience at an outstanding inner-city school.
A TLR allowance will be available to a suitably experienced applicant to take on additional responsibilities within the department.
We will welcome applications from candidates who wish to teach either History or Politics or both subjects.
