An alternative SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision in Manchester is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Food Technology to join their permanent staff team.
This role offers an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs, fostering creativity, life skills, and independence through the curriculum.
Start Date: Before Christmas 2024 Contract Type: Permanent, Term-Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience) The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a creative and engaging Food Technology curriculum tailored to meet the specific needs of students with SEMH challenges.
The teacher will plan and deliver lessons that promote practical skills, nutritional awareness, and a love for cooking.
A strong focus on differentiation and pastoral care is essential in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the SEMH provision's Food Technology curriculum.
Create and adapt lessons to meet the needs and abilities of individual students.
Inspire students to develop their practical skills and confidence in the kitchen.
Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback to support their learning and development.
Work closely with support staff, parents, and other professionals to address students' SEMH needs.
Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages student engagement and resilience.
Maintain a safe and hygienic learning space, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification in Food Technology (or similar).
Proven experience in teaching Food Technology, preferably in an SEMH or alternative provision setting.
Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs, with a genuine passion for supporting their personal and academic growth.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
