This Tax Manager will report to the Senior Tax Manager and will work within the Networks Finance directorate based in our London or Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £60,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

JOB PURPOSE: You will ensure that tax processes are operating within the business to ensure we pay the right amount of tax at the right time. This will include the preparation of tax returns, forecasts, managing cash tax outflows and maintaining a good relationship with both company partners and the tax authorities. Focus of the role will be on direct tax (corporation tax) but will include opportunities to work across all taxes applicable to the business.
DIMENSIONS: UK Power Networks pays annual tax amounts of approximately £500 million across corporation tax, VAT and PAYE.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Prepare Corporation Tax returns and supporting documentation, including Research & Development, Corporation Interest Restriction and Capital Allowance claims.Tax reporting, including preparation of tax accounting notes for statutory and regulatory accounts, and running the tax model for monthly reporting.Prepare tax forecasts and management reporting to aid cash planning, budgeting, forecasting and regulatory reporting to Ofgem and company partners. Ensuring that all payments are made.Respond to ad hoc tax queries from the business and provide clear and focused advice.Assist on multiple projects across the tax function and the wider finance teams.Assist to develop and implement appropriate procedures for new tax legislation.Partner with the business to ensure that there is awareness and education regarding tax sensitive issues.Support the Head of Tax and Senior Tax Manager in regular meetings with partners to ensure tax controls operate through the business.Ensure financial controls operate over tax activities, and assist with implementing procedures. This includes maintaining tax policies, manuals and tax risk registers and keeping them up to date and prepare for review by the Senior Tax Manager regularly.Assist Senior Tax Manager in overseeing compliance with taxes, tax governance, manage tax risks and make sure all tax processes follow the Group's tax strategy.Implement progressive technological solutions to meet the Group's digitalisation ambitions.NATURE AND SCOPE: The Tax function is led by the Head of Tax, who reports to the Finance Director. Two staff members report to the Head of Tax being the Senior Tax Manager and the Indirect Tax Manager, with the Tax Manager (this role) and the Tax Assistant directly reporting to the Senior Tax Manager. The team works with each other to ensure that there are robust direct and indirect tax processes operating within the business to ensure we pay the right amount of tax at the right time.
You will work with other finance, HR and business operational teams to collate and document the preparation of any information required by the tax team and to help with education where necessary for the relevant departments.
The Tax Manager ensures that all tax risks are managed including engaging and influencing the business to ensure that tax processes are followed and to influence legislation drafters and industry groups. The Tax Manager will ensure that all tax payments and returns are accurate and submitted on time.
You will identify pragmatic tax solutions to operational and business problems, both those identified by the tax function and others in the business.
You will be asked to occasionally travel to Crawley/London (depending on the main location in your contract) to attend meetings and other events as this is where our core finance team and Head office are based.
