TATA Steel UK Funding Project Officer Job descriptionThis is a Fixed Term post until 31st March 2026 (UK Government funding) with potential extension to 31st March 2027 subject to fundingIf you intend on applying for this position via a secondment opportunity, you must seek approval from your current manager before submitting an application form.We are currently looking for an experienced programme management officer to join our team.The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Economic Development team and the TSUK Programme Management Office to deliver the Council's recently approved Tata Steel UK Transition Fund project.The £80 million support fund is being provided by UK Government through the cross-government Tata Steel / Port Talbot Transition Board to support workers and businesses affected by Tata Steel's move to greener steelmaking and the regeneration of Port Talbot.The Economic Development team will be managing four business support grants, a self employment and start up fund, business resilience fund, business growth fund and supply chain transition fund.The main duties of the post will be to:Coordinate and support the creation and development of the processes for the management of the Funds and coordinate and to support the effective and compliant delivery.
Coordinate the implementation of the Funds to achieve associated outputs and outcomes.Lead and coordinate the claims process for the Funds ensuring deadlines are met and robust checks are undertaken, with accurate and timely submission of financial claims.Lead and coordinate the financial monitoring of the Tata Transition Funds including supporting the business claims and grant payments processTo coordinate the Funds governance, decision making and programme assuranceTo coordinate the establishment of the monitoring and evaluation process, including the coordination of an external evaluation contract.To coordinate stakeholder management You will have experience of/in; Experience of working in the field of strategic funding with demonstrable track record of supporting the delivery of strategic funding projects and programmes.
Experience of European Structural and Investment Funds, Welsh Government or UK Government funding programme delivery.Experience of preparing and collating financial claims and financial monitoring and reporting at a project and programme level.Experience of output and outcome monitoring at project and programme level;Direct experience of dealing with a wide range of organisations at all levels in the public, private and third sectors.Experience of procurement processes and contract management.Experience of working within local government / economic regeneration.
Ideally you will have; A relevant degree, equivalent professional qualification, or experience in the field of project and programme management.
