The System Administrator is responsible and the go-to person for keeping a company's computer systems, servers, and networks running smoothly. Ensuring that the technology is reliable, secure, and up to date, while also solving tech problems that come up.
Role Responsibilities Manage Office Software (Office 365): Make sure programs like Outlook (email), SharePoint, and Teams work properly for everyone in the company.Solve Computer Problems: Fix any issues with company computers or servers so work isn't disrupted.Manage Cloud Services (Azure): Look after cloud-based systems to ensure they run efficiently and are set up correctly.Deploy and Manage Devices: Set up and manage company laptops, tablets, and phones, making sure they are secure and have the right settings.Keep the Network Running: Make sure the company's internet and network connections (routers, switches) are working well.Secure Devices: Protect computers from viruses, malware, and other cyber threats.Install Updates and Patches: Regularly update software and systems to keep them secure and running efficiently.Support Virtual Meetings (AV Systems): Ensure video conferencing and other audio-visual setups are working for meetings and events.Manage IT Projects: Lead new IT projects, like setting up new systems or improving current ones, from planning to completion.Job Functional Knowledge Problem SolvingInterpersonal SkillsFocused on SolutionsEnhance CommunicationsAssume AccountabilityBuild TrustQualifications / Experience Essential Knowledge of subject matterExperience of IT supportGood communication skillsAble to undergo security vettingDesirable Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker).Infrastructure as Code (IAC) Use tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or similar for managing infrastructure.Automate deployment and configuration of infrastructure using scripts and configuration management tools.
