Job DescriptionSustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability ConsultantLocation: PlymouthSalary / Benefits; Circa £35,000 - £55,000 negotiable dependant on level of expertise plus a fantastic benefits package including:- 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 with length of service- Electric Car salary sacrifice scheme- Private medical, Life Assurance & Income protection- Flexitime / Hybrid Working- Employee stock purchase plan- Plus much more.SummaryAn award-winning engineering consultancy is looking to hire a creative and driven Sustainability professional to join their Southwest Sustainability team, with the opportunity to be located in any South West office including Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter or Plymouth with excellent flexible working arrangements, including working remotely.They provide a diverse sustainability consultancy service promoting sustainable development for a range of projects, across all sectors.This is a rare chance to grow your career with abundant opportunity for developing your skills, experience, practice, and influence in your field of expertise.As part of the role you will:- Develop holistic sustainability strategies- Lead the delivery of environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc) from early design stages through to completion.- Undertake a range of modelling and assessment, which may include but not limited to: embodied carbon of materials, circular economy opportunities, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, overheating.- Support development of energy strategies with our clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.- Support the training of graduate members of the team.- Work with other members of the team on research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry.- As well as project-related work, we engage directly with industry undertaking research and development studies, and authoring industry guidance.
The role also presents the opportunity for involvement in this aspect of our work to those keen to have a direct influence on the industry.Candidate specification- Experience working within the built environment sector.- Already working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy- A degree in engineering / science, and experience in the field) and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.You are likely to have some knowledge and experience in a selection of the following fields:- BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments- Bespoke sustainability charters- Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports and circular economy statements.- Environmental Impact AssessmentsExperience in the following would also be advantageous but not essential- Whole life carbon assessments - using OneClick or other methodologies- Net zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations.- Circular Economy Statements- Energy performance modelling - ApacheHVAC, Building Regulations Part L, NABERS, Passivhaus- BREEAM - qualified BREEAM Assessor or AP- WELL - qualified WELL AP- Passivhaus - qualified PH Designer or Consultant, or a good working knowledge of the methodology- NABERS/DfP - a good working knowledge of the methodology- Knowledge of IES and Design SAP- Sector experience in residential, office, Healthcare and Data Centre.
