Job title: ?SurveyorLocation: Office based in Byfleet with travel to sites in the division as required?About the roleWe are keen to appoint an experienced Surveyor to become part of the South East team, overseeing new retirement developments in the division.
As the Surveyor, you will manage the entire financial cycle for up to three contracts at any one time: from the preparation of anticipated build costs, through to procurement, payment and final evaluation of subcontractors.Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Surveyor will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and exposure, as you'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of key internal stakeholders including Land, Design, and Technical teams, through to the Group Divisional Operations Director.You'll also be collaborating with our external contractors, suppliers, and consultants; agreeing trading terms and contract negotiations.
In the role of Surveyor, you will be responsible for preparing construction budgets, monitoring costs, preparing schedules, estimates, making payments and monitoring procurement of subcontractors and materials.In addition your duties will include: Measuring drawings, taking off quantities, preparing schedules, estimates and other working documentsProviding the material costs for the preparation of construction budgetsSourcing suitable suppliers and issue tender enquiry documentsNegotiating proposed order values and regional supply agreements, together with purchasing of materialsAppointing and managing subcontractorsThe role will mainly be office based in West Byfleet with travel required to sites as required.Office hours are full-time, Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm.?About youOur new Surveyor will:Demonstrate excellent commercial acumen in the housebuilding sector, ideally gained on multi-million Residential Apartments, Retirement Living, Extra-Care Homes or student accommodationYou will have experience in taking projects through their full lifecycle, from tender to final accountAs a minimum you will be able to demonstrate at least 5 years relevant commercial experience within the housebuilding sectorYou will hold a relevant HNC or HND qualification together with professional body membership (RICS or MOICB) and you will be able to understand architect drawings, specification documents, as well as the relevant terminologyIt's important that you are a commercially astute negotiator who is used to exceeding time and financial targets.
